From the previous episode…
I calmly waited for my letter amidst the pushing here and there, and on receiving it, I stepped aside to open it and saw SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF NIGERIA, Federal Secretariat Independence Layout Enugu, and my Local Government read Enugu North.
I honestly didn’t know what to think, but I just simply whispered “thank you Jesus”.
From my letter, it means that not only have I not been posted to a school, I was posted to the town. The next step was to figure out my way out of Awgu and also get someone who may know my new PPA (Place of Primary Assignment).
I went back to where the band executives told us to report back to. Nnamdi asked for my letter as soon as I got there and gave me a slip stating that I’d use that slip to request for the Band CDS during registration when I get to town. I asked him if he knew my PPA and he said he knows the area sha. The next thing on my mind was how I was going to leave Awgu, as so many buses especially from different church denominations were there (my denomination wasn’t present sha).
Not quite long after, Max asked for my letter, congratulated me and asked how I was leaving town. Before I could say much, Seun had already started approaching us and caught my last sentence. Both guys finally suggested that I follow House On The Rock Church bus and immediately Seun asked me to follow him (as my fellow Yoruba brother) to the bus so he’d tell his guys that I was following them, that was how I got a space.
Straight out of Awgu…. It was time to start service year proper.
As we moved out of the camp, the president of the church’s corp members addressed us, explaining to us know that the church would be lodging us in an hotel for two days with the expectations that we would have sorted our PPA issues and maybe accommodation too.
He added that if a large number of us were unable to finish, they’d try to hustle out a 3rd night payment but if they can’t, we’d have to take care of ourselves from the 3rd day.
As we got into town, my father called me and I honestly didn’t see the conversation coming…
